The “Long Count” occurs during the Dempsey/Tunney fight, when boxer Gene Tunney was knocked down but the champion, Jack Dempsey, didn't return to his corner.
By the time the ref was able to resume counting, Tunney was able to get to his feet.
Tunney won the fight and took the world championship away from Dempsey.
